Charlie Smith Padilla is, as he proudly proclaims, a "Smoker": a specialist for all kinds of steam, fog, mist and smoke special effects for motion pictures big and small. 

Like so many unsung heroes in the movie industry, Charlie suffers stoically the snubs and insults of actors, DOPs and directors. But when an assistant's unforced error threatens to permanantly close down a promising independent film, moments before shooting it's most crucial scene, it's Charlie who saves the day... and the careers of those who mocked him.
